Our Mission.....

This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources
career cluster; provides technical skill proficiency, and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order rea­soning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the veterinary assisting industry within the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources  career cluster. 

The content includes but is not limited to broad, transferable skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of the following elements of the veterinary assisting industry: planning, management, finance, technical and production skills, underlying principles of technology, labor issues, community issues and health, safety and environmental issues. The program also provides supplemental training for persons previously or currently employed as veterinary assistants

Magnet Eligibility Requirements
  • At least two High School credits earned  in Middle School (Algebra I and Physical Science)
  • Minimum of a 2.0 GPA in core academic classes (Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies)
  • Minimum grade of C in conduct
  • No more than 10 unexcused absences

    “Students can earn Algebra I and Physical Science credits on Florida Virtual School. In order to meet eligibility requirements, please mail a hard copy of proof of registration from the FLVS website to Felix Varela Senior High School, Attention John A. Galardi, Assistant Principal.”
