Department Chair: Teresa Casal

Mission

The mission of the Science program at Felix Varela Senior High is to promote scientific literacy emphasizing the process, content, and interdisciplinary nature of science; to develop critical thinking skills and to enable our students to pursue further studies in science, as they become active contributors to an ever-changing society.

SCIENCE DISCIPLINE

For students selecting any one of the three graduation options, the required courses include Earth/Space Science, completed in 9th grade; Biology, completed in 10th grade; and Chemistry I or Physical Science, completed in 11th grade. Integrated Science will meet the requirement for graduation and admission into the State University System by taking Integrated Science I, II, & III or by taking Integrated Science I and two additional science courses.
